BIOGRAPHY

IVAN BORDAS was born in Puerto Rico of Cuban and Dominican Republic parents. His artwork is a result of responding to his cultural and educational experiences as well as the challenges of living in major urban cities. Bordas' fascination with architecture and the beauty of nature inform his paintings as does the narrative of unexpected events occurring within the canvas. Bold yet allusive references to collage or familiar iconography serve to mystify or challenge the viewer. A dialogue develops between what has been created and what is being seen.
