Leslie Wolfe

 

LESLIE WOLFE uses the transformation of worn, discarded handbags and purses as a metaphor for renewal and the creative process. During the evolution of mending, the artist addresses various issues, including relationships, political references, and mankind's misuse of nature. Wolfe works with a vast array of media and objects to tease out the substance of her playful allusions and puns, often crocheting disparate objects together and incorporating them into the structure of the bag. While skillfully formed and cleverly conceived, the final pieces are best viewed in a spirit of humor and fun.
