DAN ZIEMBO's paintings depict unpeopled pathways and foliage shown in daylight. They are clearly represented, though sections are close to abstract because each scene has been constructed from tiny dabs of color. The mosaic-like surface of transparent marks creates the feeling of walking into and out of the environment being viewed.

Ziembo works from photographs of scenes which interest him. He alters the images to create landscapes which do not really exist. Then he starts painting, an activity he strives to keep fresh and challenging.

Paintings incorporating ink strokes seem to extend or complete the landscape alluding to an experiencing of both day and night.
